This guide explains the basic setup needed to generate RBC ISO XML files in Phoenix. It focuses on key fields and common requirements for US and Canadian files.
Summary
Before generating an RBC file, make sure:
- Districts (states/provinces) are set up correctly
- Bank and branch details are complete
- Employee addresses are complete
1. Company Structure (Districts)
Districts are used for states/provinces and postal/ZIP codes.
Each district must have:
- 2-letter code (e.g., NY, CA, ON)
- Postal/ZIP code
Districts are used in branch and employee records:
Navigation: Go to Maintenance → Company Setup → Structure.
2. Bank and Branch Configuration
Bank Setup
- Each bank must be linked to an electronic file
- If linked, all branches of that bank are included in the file
Branch Setup (Important for RBC)
Most RBC validation rules apply at the branch level.
Required for all branches:
- SWIFT code
- Address
- Town name
Additional requirements for US and Canada branches:
- ABA number (must be 9 digits)
- District (used for postal/ZIP code)
3. Employee Data Requirements
Employee records must also meet minimum data standards to be included in RBC file generation.
Required for all employees:
- Address line 1
- Address line 3 (town/city)
- Country
Additional requirements for employees living in the US and Canada:
- District (used for postal/ZIP code)
4. RBC File Generation & Filtering
Phoenix provides flexible filtering options when generating RBC files.
Employee Filtering
Use the multi-filter option to:
- Include specific employees
Exclude employees as needed
Single Bank Filtering
If desired, you can generate a file for one specific bank at a time
Important Notes:
Only banks mapped to the selected electronic file will be available
Final Notes
- Always validate district mappings, branch setup, and employee data before generating files
- For US/CA testing, pay close attention to ABA numbers and district assignments
- Start with small, filtered test runs to confirm correctness before scaling up
